Lockdown

The real lockdown will be
when I’m in my grave
then it opens up
on the Day so grave

Lockdown is
when the heart is sealed a
the ego inflated
blind to reality

Lockdown is
despair in hope
no akhirah to believe in
selfish interests

Lockdown is
yearning for dunya
feeling hemmed and caged
hankering for freedom

As an Abd you are
always in submission
always under lockdown
treading the taqwa way

Lockdown for a Mumin is
the dunya as a sijn – a prison
the heart is free always
able to worship always

Under any constraints
lockdown does not stop
ibadah in myriad ways
despite closed masjids

The heart isn’t caged
when the Jummah is cancelled
lockdown does not prevent
kushu & khudhu – still attainable

True lockdown is
when the heart is sealed
the mind is closed
and humanity is sold

Lockdown just an opportunity
to truly connect – before
we lockdown in our graves
and it’s game over
