Agenda
In life I have no agenda
To Allah I only surrender
In the company of the awliya, the muqarabeen
That’s where I’d like to be seen
My family, friends and clan I’d like to see
If in that company they will be
With great granddad maulana Ishaaq
I’d like to be buried and raised Oh Razaaq
Joy comes form having no agenda
Only Allah, nothing could be grander
If only I can abide by that covenant
No better return no better dividend
Happiness defined by the bigger picture
Thoughts of akhirah as in the scripture
In sabr and amal e saleha –spend the time
Allah will ensure muck and worry is left behind
No ego or self in any agenda
Leaves the heart pure and tender
All around are callings, pamper the self
When Allah says – watch, control yourself
The nafs in line with the ruh
Keep it in check with a glue
Rancour, resentment kept at bay
With Audho – keep Shaytan from leading us astray
The beauty of having no agenda
Clears the horizon, to dwell on Allah’s splendour
Needs and wants evaporate as mist
If of core values we all get the gist
True desires deal with the akhirah
The company of those to meet in jannah
My great granddad’s coat I’d like to hold
As grace and rahmah on him unfolds
Is having no agenda so hard to believe
Does the world and worry have to be up my sleeve
Does it mean I’m not at peace
If I’m in service ready to appease
Do western parameters define my condition
Tawheed and taqwa eyed with suspicion
Serenity comes with zikr-ullah
Abide by that for true falaah
In the footsteps of my great granddad I’d like to be
From the dunya I love to be free
Ability to instantly change gears
Only to the One – in sajdah, his displeasure fear
Best joy when I am; appropriate to the moment
Nothing more inspiring more potent
No needs no wants ever really matter
If ma’arifatullah – I can understand better
