Shine with a glow
As they marvel at the world
Notice things unfurl

Obsidian eyes
Glow in the dark
Observe and sparkle
Taking it all in

Who’s responsible
For this ability to process
As babies progress
The data they collect

Who’s linked the eye
To ear and sound
Multiple senses
To work in synchrony

Touch and feel develop
Before taste and smell
The walk and talk
The next level

All aided. by
The obsidian eyes
As they are busy absorbing
All sights n colours

Alert to sounds
Feel the ground
As they topple n tumble
And learn motor skills

Inbuilt safety valve
Precaution before next move
Uncertain of balance
And watchful obsidian eyes

Playful and excited
As the world unfolds
No experience of fear
Just joy of discovery

Along the way awaits
Likes and dislikes
Developing preferences
In taste and texture

All the while
The Obsidian eyes
Collect data
To generate experience

Gift from the Creator
Of the Obsidian eyes
And wholesome senses.
Lack one and see

It lower  defences
Leaves one vulnerable
Frail with domino effect,
All things are affected

The challenges are many
So I’m super thankful
